Grooveline Radio is a DMV-based company that specializes in DJing, Journalism, and Creative Production within the realms of music, media, gaming, and sports. The founder, Vance Brinkley (also known as Vance B) is a nationally-publicized journalist and DJ that has worked with or opened for musical talent and small businesses across the country.
The goal of the company is to find uncover and develop artists, creatives, and small businesses within our specialties to reach bigger demographics through GLR or associated businesses within the network. The company has helped develop DJs into working professionals through both homegrown and non-profit platforms, while also expanding into new ventures including podcasting via the Record Report Podcast and philanthropy work as volunteer DJ for the Baltimore Association of Black Journalists, a non-profit chapter of the national organization.
Originally beginning as a hobby in 2014 to break away from journalist aspirations, Vance B (founder of GLR) has recently emerged as a prospect among DC's dynamic DJ scene. Known for a mixing style featuring infectious loops, an ear for diverse sound, and surprising turns, he's built a catalog that showcases his work through the Grooveline Radio and Off the Dribble mix series on Mixcloud. In 2016, he began DJing professionally at house parties and various bars before catching a break at Layla Lounge later that year. His budding relationship with Layla would grow into tremendous opportunities like mixing for Devin The Dude's album listening party, maintaining year-long residencies for Meltdown and Budz and Bass meetups, and opening for great DJs like Malcolm Xavier, Farrah Flosscett, Alex Noize.
In 2018, his mix shows made waves in Annapolis with socialite group We Are Conglomerate and local store ArtFarm to host The Kickback, an intimate party that attracted a diverse group of people from the city's local community. He hosted his first live show Grooveline Radio Presents and later his first residency at Rock and Roll Hotel in 2019. As a writer, Vance has earned bylines as a music reporter, including writing for prestigious cultural websites including The Undefeated, REVOLT, Bandcamp Daily, and OkayPlayer.
